LA JOLLA, Calif. - A career night for Molly Dalziel lifted the University of California San Diego women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rival Cal State LA Tuesday at RIMAC Arena. Scores of the match were 26-24, 25-11, and 25-14.

UC San Diego is now 11-3 overall and 5-1 in the CCAA, tied with 23rd-ranked Cal State San Bernardino for first place in the conference's South Division. The Tritons are unbeaten at home with a perfect 4-0 record. Cal State LA dropped to 8-5 on the season and, with its first league loss of the year, fell to 4-1 in CCAA action.

Dalziel finished with 17.0 points, 14 kills, and five blocks (one solo), all of those totals establishing new career-highs. The junior outside hitter recorded a .448 attack percentage with just one error in 29 attempts. She also added 13 digs for her fourth career double-double.

Senior outside hitter Amanda Colla (Carlsbad/San Dieguito Academy) had 14.5 points with 11 kills, three service aces, and a block assist. Colla collected her team-leading 10th double-double of the season by accumulating 11 digs. Junior middle blocker Micah Hammond had four blocks and sophomore libero Alyson Penrose had 13 digs.

As a team, the Tritons hit .257 with 42 kills and 14 errors in 109 attacks. They out-blocked the Golden Eagles 8.0 to 5.0, the ninth time this season that they have had more blocks than their opponent. UCSD held Cal State LA to just an .056 (29-23-108) attack percentage, with its 29 kills the fewest by any Triton opponent this year.

UC San Diego led for most of the opening set. A Colla kill gave the Tritons set point at 24-21, but the Golden Eagles rallied to tie it with three straight points on back-to-back kills and a block. Colla again put down a kill to give UCSD its second set point at 25-24 and an attack error by Cal State LA allowed the Tritons to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set saw UCSD race out to a 10-0 lead. The Tritons would push the spread to 14 points when an attack error gave them a 17-3 advantage. At 19-6, Cal State LA tallied three unanswered points to close the gap to 10, but that would be as close as it would get as the home team won six of the final eight points of the stanza. Dalziel had seven kills and four blocks in the set.

In the final set, the Tritons once again led the entire way after scoring the first seven points of the frame. Ahead 14-10, UCSD went on a 7-1 run to make it 21-11, essentially sealing the victory.

The Tritons improved their hitting throughout the night, attacking at .184 in the first set, .286 in the second, and .306 in the third.

Daisia Labrie had 10 kills for the Golden Eagles, while Jeshmarie Suarez led all players with 17 digs.

UCSD has won five of the last six match-ups against Cal State LA.

UC San Diego now heads to the opposite end of California to play at Humboldt State (3-10, 2-5 CCAA) on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. The Lumberjacks defeated Cal State East Bay, 3-1, Tuesday evening in Arcata.
