TURLOCK, Calif. - Mateusz Kucz of the University of California San Diego golf team is tied for fourth place following the first two rounds of the 45th Hanny Stanislaus Invitational Monday at Turlock Golf and Country Club.
Kucz shot 74-70 for a two-round total of 144, even par on the par-72, 6,641-yard configuration. The senior recorded 24 pars over 36 holes with his second round 70 tied for the lowest single round score of his career.
UC San Diego sits in 10th place of 13 teams with a 609, 33-over par. The Tritons opened with a 309 and improved to shoot a 300 in round two.
Also competing for UC San Diego are sophomores Hayden Hui (t-43rd, 79-74--153), Adam Navigato (Solana Beach/Torrey Pines HS) (t-46th, 77-77--154), and Justin Woo (San Diego/Torrey Pines HS) (t-64th, 79-79--158).
California Baptist (582, +6) is in first place and is followed by Cal State East Bay (585, +9) and host Stanislaus State (588, +12).
Three players are tied for the lead at 143 (-1) including Chico State's Nicholas Caputo, Dominican's Ty Macias, and Jeff Yamaguchi of Stan State.
The tournament's third and final round tees off at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
