I chose to attend UC San Diego because I felt it provided an environment rich with opportunities to pursue excellence. For me personally, the research community, challenging academics, and athletics have enabled me to work for something greater than myself. Within these opportunities I've found a culture that demonstrates a great passion for excellence, and I value this defining characteristic the most.

I chose UC San Diego because it was so different to the rest of the colleges that I toured in a way that really stuck with me. I liked the idea of the six college system and also loved the fact that it was near the beach in the gorgeous city of La Jolla. It was also a perk that UCSD had NCAA fencing since I knew that I wanted to compete in the collegiate circuit ever since middle school. I have fond memories of attending Triton Day and being astounded by how vast and beautiful the campus was. All the student volunteers were also incredibly kind and helpful. I remember being happily overwhelmed by all of the different sessions I wanted to explore like Study Abroad, Athletics, and different academic departments!

When I applied to UC San Diego, I wasn’t sure if I would want to move far away from home, but I decided to go to Triton Day in order to get to know the school a little better. Triton Day helped me learn more about my college and the campus as a whole. I was originally confused by the six college system, but after Triton Day it became one of the things I like most about UCSD. With a campus as big as this one, it’s nice to be a part of a smaller community. Any doubts I had about the size of the school or the six college system went away and I knew I wanted to spend the next four years here, which is why I decided to commit at Triton Day. Plus, how could anyone resist going to school in beautiful San Diego?

UC San Diego was my dream school since my freshmen year of high school. I have always loved the San Diego atmosphere and knew that UCSD had extensive research opportunities in marine and environmental systems that would allow me to focus my attention on conservation issues through local organizations like the San Diego Zoo and Scripps. Little did I know, that a few years into high school I would realize that my passions would also lead me to pursue a career in collegiate athletics. During my senior year of high school, I spent four hours with the UCSD track and field team, touring the campus and talking with the athletes, and from that day on, I knew that UC San Diego was truly where I belonged and I continue to stand by my decision every day.

I chose to attend UC San Diego for the outstanding academics, the opportunity to compete on a nationally top-ranked tennis team, and the campus' unbelievable location in La Jolla. I attended Triton Day during my senior year, and have memories of walking around the beautiful campus and learning about UCSD's tradition of athletic and academic excellence from current students. I could not wait to call myself a Triton the following fall.

I chose to attend UC San Diego not only for its competitive softball program but because of its high level academic reputation. I loved the idea at having the chance to win a national championship and get a degree from one of the top schools in the country. The location of La Jolla was a reasonable distance from home to never feel too far away yet a place to meet new people and start fresh at the same time. And on top of everything else, the weather is impossible to beat and the beach is only 5 minutes away! It is a dream come true and I could not be happier of where I ended up!

I chose UC San Diego because it was a good fit for me, both academically and athletically. I was joining a great team in which I knew I could make an immediate impact and playing for a coach who I knew could develop me as a player and more importantly, a person. I was lucky enough to know early on what I wanted to study and seeing how UCSD was a top school for cognitive science and computer science, it was a perfect choice for me.
