LA JOLLA, Calif. - Freshman pitcher Robyn Wampler of the University of California San Diego softball team has been named All-America Honorable Mention by Fastpitch News.
Over her 2018 campaign, Wampler went 25-10 with a 1.81 ERA and 214 strikeouts over 220.2 innings of work. Among all players in the country, the left-hander ranked 10th in saves (5), 11th in wins, 18th in strikeouts, and 39th in shutouts (6). Wampler led the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in strikeouts (134), shutouts (5), and saves (5) and was second in the league in wins (17), ERA (1.41), and innings (144.0). She struck out at least 10 batters in six games, with a career-best 12 against Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Also this season, Wampler was named the CCAA Freshman of the Year as well as NFCA and D2CCA All-West Region Second Team and All-CCAA First Team. She garnered the CCAA's Pitcher of the Week award four times.
Wampler helped lead UC San Diego to a 36-19 overall record and a second-place CCAA finish with a 27-13 mark. The Tritons, who were ranked as high as 18th nationally, qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament for the 10th time in program history.
