UC San Diego Selected to Host 2018 CCAA Soccer Tournaments and 2019 CCAA Track & Field Championships

SAN RAMON, Calif. - The University of California San Diego is the proud host of the 2018 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's and Women's Soccer Tournaments and 2019 CCAA Track & Field Championships, as announced by the league office on Thursday.

The soccer events will take place at Triton Soccer Stadium on Friday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 4, with the track and field meet running Thursday through Saturday, May 2-4, inside Triton Track & Field Stadium, all on UC San Diego's North Campus.

UC San Diego will provide the soccer venue for the second year in a row, and fifth overall after staging prior installments in 2001, 2006 and 2008. The Triton women have won the tournament in each of the previous four times they served as hosts, now as three-time reigning and record 11-time victors. They have only missed out once, in 2013, since joining the CCAA in 2000. The men's team brought home its first banner in 2016 from Turlock, before being ousted in the first round last year.

For the fifth season in a row, the CCAA schedule consists of a single round robin, with all teams meeting once for 12 matches total, and the top six sides in the final regular-season standings (three points for a win, one for a tie) qualifying for the CCAA Tournament. First-round matches featuring the No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 seeds will be contested on Tuesday, Oct. 30, hosted by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds.

Four conference semifinals, two men's and two women's, will go off at Triton Soccer Stadium on Friday, Nov. 2. The winners will meet in finals on Sunday, Nov. 4. The tourney champions will again earn the CCAA's automatic NCAA Championship bids.

The CCAA Track & Field Championships are set for Thursday through Saturday, May 2-4. UC San Diego will serve as the host for the first time since 2014. The 2006 and 2010 editions were also in La Jolla. The 2015 CCAA champion Triton men placed second a year ago in Turlock, with the five-time champion (2005-09) women finishing fourth.

Details pertaining to exact game and event schedules, ticket prices, etc., will populate onto their respective CCAA championship websites in the coming weeks and months. Tickets will be available at the venue on days of competition.

Parking will be free on the UC San Diego campus on Championship Sunday for soccer, and the final day, Saturday, of the track and field meet. Parking permits are required on the UC San Diego campus all day on weekdays. Permit machines are located in every lot and on every floor of the nearby Hopkins Parking Structure.
