Brittany Newton, Shuchen Lin Named ITA Scholar-Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. - University of California San Diego women's tennis players Brittany Newton and Shuchen Lin were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes as the outlet announced its 2018 honorees Tuesday.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.50 GPA for the academic year.

A sophomore from Dallas, Newton majors in Cognitive Science and is in UC San Diego's Sixth College. Lin, a freshman from Hangzhou, China, is a Media major, also from Sixth College. 

In all, 4,328 student-athletes across all five NCAA divisions were named ITA Scholar-Athletes in 2018.
