Addy Royal was named an assistant coach with UC San Diego's cross country program in August of 2018.
Previously served as assistant coach at Southern Oregon University, Royal helped guide the men's team to a fourth-place finish at the 2017 NAIA National Championships, as well as leading the women's team to seventh place at the 2016 NAIA Championships. In addition, she had a role in the development of six NAIA All-Americans during her two seasons with the Raiders.
Royal earned her bachelor's degree at Sacramento State in 2016, majoring in communication studies with a concentration in digital media. She later received a master's in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership/Coaching at the University of Washington in the summer of 2018.
A former student-athlete at Sac State, Royal was part of four-consecutive Big Sky Conference championships with the Hornets. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and earned Coca-Cola Scholars accolades.
