Corvese, Perkins Earn All-Conference Accolades at CCAA Championships


SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The University of California San Diego cross country teams gave it their all on Saturday morning at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships, with the men’s team earning fourth place in the 8K and the women placing sixth in the 6K.

Juniors Tim Corvese and Camille Perkins each picked up All-CCAA honors, as both placed 14th overall at Cal State San Bernardino’s home course. The top 15 runners earn All-CCAA accolades.

Chico State took first place on both the men's and women’s side.

UC San Diego now prepares for the NCAA West Regional on Nov. 17 in Billings, Mont.

Men’s Recap

The Tritons earned 127 points for a fourth-place finish, holding off fifth-place Stanislaus State (133).

Corvese led the pack, crossing the finish line in 25-minutes, 0.4-seconds. It was the fastest time in an 8K this season for the native of Chino Hills, Calif.

Freshman Brett Beattie took 24th overall in 25:30.1, fellow freshman Noah Monroy earned 27th at 25:34.3 and sophomore Elijah Horwitz placed 36th overall with a time of 25:58.8.

Juniors Julian Romero (41st/26:05.7) and Sam Blake (47th/26:22.5) also picked up top-50 finishes for the Tritons.

Women’s Recap

UC San Diego earned 181 points in its sixth-place performance, edging out seventh-place Cal Poly Pomona (189) and finishing behind fifth-place Cal State East Bay (156).

Perkins led the way for the Tritons, crossing the finish line in 22:13.9. It was the fastest time in a 6K this season for the junior from Dana Hills, Calif.

The freshmen duo of Madalyne Coney (40th/23:12.4) and Tess Rounds (41st/23:13.5) finished second and third, respectively, for the Tritons, followed by senior Shalyn Mabritto (44th/23:17.8) and sophomore Laura Moran (51st/23:25.5).
