SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Julia Macabuhay doesn’t know what it feels like to lose at the collegiate level.

That didn’t change on Saturday.

The freshman guard made a driving layup with two seconds remaining to cap off the UC San Diego women’s basketball team’s come-back road victory over Cal State San Marcos, 54-52, at The Sports Center.

"It was a battle from the beginning," said UC San Diego head coach Heidi VanDerveer. "We dug ourselves a hole early and showed a lot of character fighting back. We made some plays down the stretch to win it."

Macabuhay finished with seven points, none bigger than the final two of the game. Junior forward Mikayla Williams played all 40 minutes, recording another double-double with 20 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks.

Senior guard Joleen Yang had 11 points and junior forward Sydney Sharp finished scored eight, including two 3-pointers.

UC San Diego (7-0, 3-0 CCAA) remains undefeated and has now won 13-straight California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) regular-season contests, and 27 of its last 28 in conference play.

The Tritons fell behind by nine in the first quarter and trailed 24-17 at halftime. They outscored the Cougars in the second half, 37-28, and are now 7-0 all-time against Cal State San Marcos (5-2, 2-1).

UC San Diego has already won three games this season at The Sports Center, where it improved to 7-1 all-time.

The Tritons return home to begin a four-game homestand, starting with a matchup against San Francisco State on Dec. 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
