Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt, Kacper Langiewicz Earn NCAA All-Tournament Accolades
STANFORD, Calif. — University of California San Diego men’s water polo standouts Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt and Kacper Langiewicz were both named to the National Collegiate Water Polo Championship All-Tournament Second Team.
The announcement was made following Sunday’s NCAA tournament final, in which USC defeated Stanford, 14-12.
Turnbow-Lindenstadt scored 10 goals in two NCAA tournament games for UC San Diego, including a career-high seven goals in the NCAA Opening Round victory over Long Beach State on Nov. 29. The sophomore followed it up by recording a hat trick with three goals against Stanford in the semifinals on Dec. 1.
Meanwhile, redshirt junior Langiewicz was a force in the two-meter zone during each of the Tritons’ two contests. The San Marcos, Calif., native finished the season ranked second on the team with 35 goals and led the squad in drawn exclusions.
Both were named to the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) All-Tournament First Team on Nov. 18. For the regular season, Turnbow-Lindenstadt earned All-WWPA First-Team honors and Langiewicz was recognized on the All-WWPA Second Team.
UC San Diego (20-6) advanced to the NCAA Championship Semifinals for the first time since 2015, suffering a 16-7 defeat to Stanford on Dec. 1.
The Tritons won 20 games for the first time since 2008.
