Tritons Set for CSUSM Fujikura Invitational at Shadowridge
LA JOLLA, Calif. - Returning to action for the first time since late October, the University of California San Diego men's golf team competes in the Cal State San Marcos Fujikura Invitational Feb. 4-5 at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista, Calif.
The 54-hole tournament begins Monday with a single round of 18 holes and concludes with 36 holes of play Tuesday. Both days feature a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Playing for the Tritons will be:
1. Hayden Hui (Jr., 72.8 stroke average)
2. Adam Navigato (Solana Beach/Torrey Pines HS) (Jr., 74.9)
3. Justin Woo (San Diego/Torrey Pines HS) (Jr., 75.5)
4. Ryan Vaughan (So., has not played)
5. Elliot Bunyaviroch (Fr., 75.7)
In addition, Jacob Johnson (Jr., 77.2) is competing as an individual.
Joining UC San Diego in the 15-team field will be Cal Lutheran, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State San Marcos, No. 8 Chico State, Concordia Portland, Holy Names, No. 9 Oklahoma Christian, Redlands, Sonoma State, Stanislaus State, Western New Mexico, and Westminster.
UC San Diego competed in five tournaments during its fall season. The Tritons had three top 10 finishes as a team, placing fourth at the season-opening Sonoma State Invitational, ninth at the Otter Invitational, and 10th at the Saint Martin's Invitational. Individually, Hui has nabbed a pair of top 10 placings, taking seventh at the Dixie State Fall Regional Preview and 10th at the Sonoma State Invitational.
In 2018, UC San Diego finished in a tie for sixth of 16 teams at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational. The Tritons were tied for third after the opening round. Navigato tied for fifth, Hui tied for 20th, Johnson and Woo tied for 33rd, and Mateusz Kucz placed 61st.
