No. 10 Tritons Head to San Marcos for Final Road Trip of the Regular Season
LA JOLLA, Calif. – The No. 10 University of California San Diego softball team is set to return to conference play as it heads to San Marcos this weekend for a four-game series with Cal State San Marcos. The action begins with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Friday and follows with another doubleheader at noon on Saturday.
The Tritons remain atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with a 26-9 overall record and a 19-6 mark in conference play. Cal State San Marcos sits at the bottom of the conference standings with an 11-26 mark on the season and a 7-23 record in CCAA action.
The Tritons swept the Cougars last season. Across the four-game series, UC San Diego outscored Cal State San Marcos 34-9. The Tritons were dominant throughout the series, but particularly in game three with their five-inning 12-1 victory. Robyn Wampler and Dominique Acosta teamed up to quiet the Cougar bats, allowing just one unearned run. At the plate, eight Tritons recorded hits. Danica Kazakoff and Maddy Lewis each scored a pair of runs.

The Tritons have a large advantage in their all-time series with the Cougars, leading the series 17-1. Their .944 win percentage over the Cougars is their best against any CCAA team.
LAST TIME OUT
The Tritons previously fell to Azusa Pacific in a nonconference home doubleheader. UC San Diego narrowly lost in game one, 1-2, and dropped game two, 2-8.
Following this series, the Tritons will return home for their final regular season series. UC San Diego will host Cal State San Bernardino for conference play. On April 25, the two teams’ doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m., while the doubleheader on April 26 is slated to start at 1 p.m. On April 26, the Tritons will honor seniors Kristyana Boghossian and Maddy Lewis.
In the NCAA regional rankings, released on April 17, the Tritons ranked first among West Region teams. Nationally, UC San Diego earned the tenth slot in the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, which was voted on by 16 Division II head coaches and released on April 17. View both polls here.
