PHILADELPHIA – It was a good-natured competition between the east and west on Friday afternoon, as the University of California San Diego men’s rowing team scrimmaged St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia.

The two teams continued their annual tradition, as they faced off in preparation for tomorrow’s Kerr Cup Regatta. This will be the Tritons’ fourth-straight year competing at the regatta.

“The team did really well,” Head Coach Zach Johnson said about the Tritons’ races with the Hawks. “Both boats had a great practice and performed very well. We really appreciate St. Joseph’s giving us this opportunity every year.”

The two teams will be back in action tomorrow morning when they compete at the 53rd annual Kerr Cup Regatta, hosted by Drexel. Both teams are slated to compete in the Men’s Varsity 8 race. UC San Diego will race in heat three, scheduled for 12:34 p.m., while St. Joseph’s will take part in heat two at 12:26 p.m. Follow along with live stats from the event here.
