Tritons Garner Most CSCAA Scholar All-America Awards in Six Years With 14 Honorees

UC San Diego

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of California San Diego men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned 14 individual Scholar All-America accolades from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA). Twelve Tritons garnered first team honors, while two were named to the second team.

UC San Diego’s 14 selections is its highest total since 2013. Eight women and six men met the CSCAA’s academic and athletic standards.

In order to qualify, a student-athlete needs to have achieved a GPA of 3.50 or higher during the winter quarter, across the 2018-19 academic year, or cumulatively. Athletically, those who competed at the NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships qualify for the first team, while those who achieved a B cut or competed in the NCAA diving qualification meet qualify for the second team.

“Academic and athletic excellence can go hand in hand and these student-athletes are living proof of exactly that,” said Head Coach David Marsh about the Tritons’ accomplishments. “As we have moved up in the NCAA rankings, we are just as proud to be performing in the classroom at the highest levels. I’m particularly proud of our seniors Brooke, Emily, Garrett, and Lindsey, as they have led the way for the team in so many areas and have finished extremely well.”
