Another Academic Honor for Hayden Hui!

NORMAN, Okla. - Hayden Hui of the University of California San Diego men's golf team has been named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, adding to his list of impressive academic accolades earned over the 2018-19 season.

To be eligible, an individual must be a junior or senior academically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of the team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 78.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

A junior Structural Engineering major, Hui also recently earned Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large and California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Spring All-Academic recognition. 

On the course, Hui held a team-best 72.5 stroke average and was UC San Diego's top finisher in 11 of 13 tournaments. He placed second at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional, pacing the Tritons to a second-place showing and a berth in the NCAA Championships. At nationals, Hui tied for 28th in the 108-competitor field.

Hui was a GCAA/PING All-America Honorable Mention and All-West Region selection as well as a member of the All-CCAA First Team.

A total of 540 student-athletes were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars this year, the most since the award's inception in 1982.

UC San Diego is coming off a historic season in which the Tritons qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships for the first time since 2004.
