Tritons Picked to Finish Sixth in National WBCA Preseason Poll

ATLANTA – The University of California San Diego women’s basketball team has been selected to finish sixth in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Preseason Top 25 Coaches’ Poll. The poll was voted on by one head coach from each of the 23 NCAA Division II conferences.

The Tritons earned 394 points in the preseason poll. Each team’s points are based on their ranking in the poll, first-place votes received, and final ranking in the 2018-19 postseason poll. UC San Diego finished the 2018-19 season also ranked sixth by the WBCA.

This is the second top-10 national preseason ranking for the Tritons. In the D2SIDA Women’s Basketball Preseason National Poll, UC San Diego was ranked seventh. The Tritons also took the top slot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Preseason Coaches Poll. 

The UC San Diego women’s basketball team is set to begin its season this weekend. The Tritons will host Simon Fraser at noon on Sunday at RIMAC Arena.
