Tritons Set to Close Fall Slate at San Diego Fall Classic

UC San Diego

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The University of California San Diego women’s rowing team continues its fall season as it gets ready to compete at the annual San Diego Fall Classic this weekend.

DETAILS

The San Diego Fall Classic will be held from 7:45-11:30 a.m. at Mission Bay on Sunday. For the regatta’s full schedule, click here

RACE HISTORY

This will be the ninth-straight year that the Tritons take part in the San Diego Fall Classic. Most recently, in the 2018 San Diego Fall Classic, the Tritons’ A squad turned in a time of 17:39.147 in the Women’s Open 8+ for fourth place.

COACH’S THOUGHTS

“I am looking for the team to build on their last race which for the most part went pretty well,” said Head Coach Colin Truex. “They need to race a little higher, a little harder, and with a little bit more swing through the recovery. This race represents the end of our very short fall season and I’d like to see them finish strong and set us up for a good winter training.”

LAST TIME OUT

The Tritons previously took part in their 19th annual Row for the Cure on Oct. 27, raising money for Susan G. Komen. In their first outing of the fall, UC San Diego A had the top Triton finish of the day, recording a fifth-place showing. View the full recap here.

WHAT’S NEXT

This is the Tritons’ final event of the fall. UC San Diego will open the spring season with a scrimmage on Feb. 15, taking on San Diego State and the University of San Diego at Mission Bay.
