INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -The UC San Diego men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams completed the second day of the NCAA Championships on Thursday night.  The UCSD women’s team is in third place, led by the second place finishes of the 200 free relay and 400 medley relay teams.  The Triton men’s team moved up to fourth place as Joel Tourtellotte finished fourth in the 200 free (1:37.57) and Andrew Skewes finished fourth in 1-meter diving.  The Tritons are at the mid point of the Championships that will continue through Friday and Saturday.


The Triton men’s 400 medley relay team of Steven Hardy, Evan Hsiao, Barney Sclafani and Lars Nordstrom finished fifth with a time of 3:23.71.  In addition to Tourtellotte and Skewes top-four finishes, Michael Baier finished sixth in the 400 IM at 4:04.66.  UCSD’s 200 free relay team finished in 10th place.


On the women’s side, the 200 free relay team of Aubrey Panis, Shannon Simonds, Sophie Levy and Emily Harlan took second with a time of 1:35.00.  The 400 medley relay team of Susan Bell, Louisa Salisbury, Jennifer Sims and Harlan finished second at 3:49.71.  Individually, Bell finished fifth in the 400 IM at 4:30.72, Sims took 10th in the 100 fly (57.63) and Levy finished eighth in the 200 free (1:553.57).
