UCSD in 12th at NCAA Championships

HOUSTON, Texas - Three UC San Diego fencing team members competed on the first day of the NCAA Championships in Houston, Texas on Thursday. Chelsea Ambort headlined the Triton squad with her fifth-place standing in epee. Raelyn Jacobson is in 19th place in saber and Jen Chun is in 20th in foil. Their points gave UCSD a 12th place finish out of 23 teams after the first day of the championships. The Tritons have 18 points, just out of the top 10 where 10th place is held by Pennsylvania with 24 points. Friday's schedule includes the women's foil and epee rounds five through seven, semifinals and Championship.

On the UCSD men's side, John Chung is representing UCSD as an alternate and the men's championship begins on Saturday and concludes on Sunday.

Rice University and the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority is the host of the championships at the JW Marriott Hotel, March 16-19, in Houston, Texas.
