LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The UC San Diego men’s and women’s track and field teams completed the 2006 regular season with a strong showing at the Occidental Invitational on Saturday. The Triton men and women will now await word on the qualifiers for the 2006 NCAA Division II Track & Field Nationial Championships that will be held May 25-27 in
UCSD had six standout performances on the final day of the regular season. Jon Patton improved on his NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 400 meter hurdles with a mark of 51.49 seconds. Daniel Anderson met a NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 800 meters with his season best mark of 1:52.73.
Mike Cunningham posted the second fastest time in school history in the 400 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 48.00. That mark is a NCAA provisional time. Additionally, the UCSD men’s 4x400 meter squad set a new school record and met a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:13.73, winning the race by nearly four full seconds.
On the women’s side, Mimi Hodgins finished sixth in the race but posted a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:11.98 in the 800 meters. UCSD’s 4x400 meter relay team won its race with a time of 3:49.03, finishing ahead of Cal State San Marcos, Azusa Pacific and
