AS A JUNIOR IN 2009: NCAA qualifier in the high jump as the fifth seed after becoming the first athlete in program history to surpass seven feet in the event, holding UCSD’s all-time mark at 7’.25”… Finished 10th in high jump at the National Championships with a leap of 6’9.5”… High jump champion at the CCAA Championships and third place finisher during the Triton Invitational, recording respective marks of 6’9.75” and 6’10.75”.

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2008: All-American High Jump, placing fifth at the NCAA Championship... Placed fifth in the Javelin Throw at the CCAA Championships with a distance of 51.28... High Jump Champion at the UCSD Triton Invitational with a height of 2.10M... Placed fifth in the High Jump at the Cal-Nevada Championships with a height of 2.05M, and fourth in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 55.56M... High Jump Champion at the UCSD Divisional Challenge... His high jump of 6'10.75" put him second all-time at UCSD.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2006 graduate of Argonaut High School in Jackson, Calif., where he lettered in both basketball and track & field... Helped guide basketball team to a 22-8 record and the Mother Lode League Championship as a senior... The team was the SAC-Joaquin Section Runners-Up... Averaged 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game... Had personal-bests of 6’9” in the high jump and 21.0’ in the long jump... Was the state high jump champion.

: Born May 2, 1988... Parents are Mike and Debbie Ryan... Father played basketball and ran track at UC Davis... Has an older brother named Mitchell who played football at the University of San Diego... Is an Economics major at Roosevelt College... Wants to attend grad school after receiving his degree at UCSD.
