SANTA BARBARA, Calif. The UC San Diego men’s and women’s swimming teams continued to improve its times in a dual loss to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday morning.  The UCSD women’s team lost 147-112, while the men dropped a 172-84 decision.  The UCSD women’s squad was led by Emily Harlan’s two, first-place finishes in the sprint events.  Kendall Bohn, Aubrey Panis and Heather Szmidt also earned first-place finishes.  On the men’s side, Tim Fuller won both the 50 and 100 free events.  Kelvin Le and Jesse Marin earned second-place finishes in the 200 IM and 200 back, respectively.  UCSD is back in action in a back-to-back, hosting UC Davis at 1:00 p.m. in Canyonview Pool.


The UCSD women’s team won seven events.  The 200 medley relay team of Aubrey Panis, Bohn, Szmidt and Harlan won with a time of 1:50.24.  Panis won the 200 back in 2:09.00, more than two seconds ahead of the next finisher.  Panis also finished second in the 100 back at 1:00.14.  Bohn won the 100 breast in 1:07.75 and finished second in the 200 breast in 2:27.05.  Harlan won the 50 free in 24.43 and the 100 free in 53.37.  Szmidt won the 100 fly with a time of 59.30.  The 200 free relay team of Panis, Liz Whiteley, Katie Baier and Emily Harlan took top honors in 1:38.81.


On the men’s side, Fuller won the 50 at 21.24 and the 100 free in 47.03.  Le finished second in the 200 back at 1:55.39 and the 200 IM at 1:57.95.  UCSD finished 2-3 in the 100 fly as Marin finished second (52.41) and Fuller took third (53.52).  The 200 free relay team of Marin, Dan Perdew, Todd Langland and Fuller won with a time of 1:25.32.
