GERALD S. BRAND, Partner, joined Fairfield Residential LLC in 1989. Mr. Brand is Director of Capital Markets and Development Underwriting at Fairfield Residential LLC. Mr. Brand has sourced, structured and negotiated with various equity partners and lenders in excess of $5 billion of apartment transactions over the past 16 years. Prior to joining Fairfield Residential LLC from 1985 through 1989, Mr. Brand was involved in the acquisition, planning and zoning of over $100 million of predevelopment land. From 1980 through 1985, Mr. Brand was Vice President at Balcor/American Express, where he was involved in underwriting and equity placement of over $300 million of apartment properties.

Mr. Brand is a graduate of Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut (Bachelor of Science, 1975) and the John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois (Juris Doctor, 1979). Mr. Brand is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois. Mr. Brand serves on the Board of Directors of the National Multi Housing Council, is a member of the Urban Land Institute and its Multifamily Housing Council, and serves on the California State Controller’s Advisory Council on Housing.

Mr. Brand resides in Rancho Santa Fe, California with his wife Luanne and son Beau. The Brand’s daughter Natalie graduated Cum Laude from the University of California, San Diego in 2005. Natalie is currently working as a newscaster at CBS TV 2 in Palm Springs, California.
