LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's and women's track & field teams hosted the Blue/Gold Alumni Meet on Saturday afternoon at the Triton Track & Field Stadium. The entire team was split up into two teams while the alumni comprised a third team that competed in many events but did not score.

The blue team came away a 365-339.5 victory on the day, paced by victories in 17 events. Redshirt freshman Christine Merrill had victories in both the 100 and 200 meter races. Junior Laiah Blue also won multiple events, posting victories in the 100 and 400 hurdles. Sophomore Jillian Sola registered victories in the shot and discus events. Both Sola and Blue took part in the 2006 NCAA D-II Track & Field National Championships and are among the many returners of the two-time defending CCAA Champions.

On the men's side, Daniel Holligan had an impressive win in the 1500 followed by a second place finish in the 3000 steeplechase. Newcomer Khalil Hooper won the 110 hurdles while senior Jean-Claude Inauen claimed victory in the 400 hurdles. Junior Elliot Williamson won the hammer throw, besting his previous personal best by over 11 feet.

Both teams will continue to practice over the next two weeks before beginning its regular season at the Rossi Relays on Saturday, February 24th in Claremont, Calif. Following that event the Tritons will take part in the All-Cal Championships on Saturday, March 3rd at UC Irvine.
