CLAREMONT, Calif. The UC San Diego men’s and women’s track & field teams took part in the 11th Annual Rossi Relays on Saturday at the Burns Track & Field Complex. The meet was the first regular season event for the Tritons in 2007.

Laiah Blue finished first in the 400 hurdles at 62.44 seconds and third in the 100 hurdles in a time of 14.00. Her 100 hurdle time assures her of a return trip to Division II nationals in that event.

Diane Dunn had a second place finish in the 3000 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 10:00.62. That time, like Blue’s, assures her of a trip to nationals. Jillian Sola's second place finish in the discus with a mark of 149'1" was also an automatic national qualifier.

Dan Noel had a fifth place finish in the 400 hurdles with his time of 55.00 seconds while Elliot Williamson had a fourth place finish in the shot put with his distance of 46’1.25”.

Scott Tsuda had the best finish of any UCSD male athlete at the meet, finishing third in the long jump with his distance of 22’4.25”. Last year’s CCAA Co-Freshman of the Year also had a seventh place finish in the triple jump with his distance of 46’7.50”.

Both teams return to action next weekend at the All-Cal Championships hosted by UC Irvine on Saturday, March 3rd. The event is slated to begin 10 a.m.
