LA JOLLA, Calif. – The UC San Diego men’s team finished first out of three teams while the women finished second out of four teams, trailing only San DiegoState, on Saturday afternoon at the San Diego City Championships at the Triton Track & Field Stadium. The women finished only 13.5 points behind the Aztecs while the men were 61.5 points clear of second place Point Loma Nazarene.
Laiah Blue broke her own school record in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 13.85 seconds, finishing first in the event. Whitney Johnson also set a new school record in the triple jump with her first place distance of 40’7.50”.
On the men’s side, Khalil Hooper turned in another solid performance, winning the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 14.96 seconds. Jean Claude Inauen had a first place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with his time of 54.46 seconds.
Freshman Casey Ryan, fresh off his basketball season that ended last week, posted a height of 6’8.75” in his first collegiate meet in the high jump. Elliot Williamson had a first place finish in the shot put with his distance of 49’5.75”. He also had a second place showing in the discus and a third place finish in the hammer throw.
Both the Triton men and women will resume action at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational on Saturday, March 17. That meet is scheduled to begin at
