LA JOLLA, Calif. - To say that the Triton Track & Field Stadium will be busy this weekend would be a massive understatement. Over 1,700 entrants have been placed in several open and invitational sections for this weekend's UCSD Triton Invitational that will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21, on the UCSD campus.

Among the notable participants in one of the largest and most prestigious track meets in southern California are Suzy Powell, Monique Henderson and James Lofton. Powell, who set a new American Record last weekend, will compete in the invitational section of the Women's Discus on Friday at 2 p.m. while Henderson, a 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist, will compete in the women's 200 meters on Saturday at 4 p.m. Lofton, an assistant coach for the San Diego Chargers, will compete in the men's 200 meters at 4:30 p.m.

UC San Diego head coach Tony Salerno is entering his full squad in the meet. Included among those entrants for the Tritons are the 12 individuals and two relay teams that have posted provisional qualifying marks for the NCAA Division II National Championships that will be held in Charlotte, N.C., on May 24-26.
