SAN RAMON, Calif. - University of California San Diego goalkeeper Angelica Ramos was named Tuesday morning as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 2-8.

A redshirt sophomore out of San Clemente (JSerra Catholic HS), the second-year Triton transfer out of Saddleback College is a first-time honoree. Ramos is UC San Diego's second selection for 2017, after senior All-American striker Katie O'Laughlin (Carlsbad/Pacific Ridge School) earned the season's first award back on Sept. 5.

Ramos kept another pair of individual shutouts during a six-point home weekend for the eighth-ranked Tritons. She produced four saves in both 1-0 triumphs, over city rival Cal State San Marcos on Wednesday, Oct. 4, and against SF State on Friday, Oct. 6. Ramos and UCSD have strung together five consecutive clean sheets, seven in eight league contests, and nine on the year. The Tritons have surrendered a solitary goal in CCAA action, that an own goal at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 22.

For the season, Ramos has a 0.538 goals-against average, which ranks third in the CCAA and 23rd nationally in the NCAA Division II, with 41 saves and an .854 save percentage. She has played all 1170 minutes in her first on-the-field campaign for UCSD after redshirting behind All-American Itzel Gonzalez in 2016.

At 11-2 overall and a still-perfect 8-0 in league play, first-place UC San Diego takes its eight-game win streak on the road for the final five matches of the 2017 regular season. That stretch begins in Arcata at Humboldt State this Friday, Oct. 13.
