Nava Nowamooz earned wins at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles Sunday.
Tritons Sweep Doubles, Defeat Cal State Stanislaus 7-2

TURLOCK, Calif. - The 17th-ranked UC San Diego women's tennis team swept doubles play en route to a 7-2 victory at Cal State Stanislaus Sunday.

UCSD improved to 8-12 with the win, while CSUS fell to 5-7.

Paula Chou and Kyra Scott, ranked 17th nationally in doubles, had no trouble in their No. 1 match, handily defeating McKenzy Harden and Jessica Laurie by a score of 8-1.

Nova Nowamooz and Shannon Theisen paired up to win at No. 2, while Tara Vanooteghem and Laure Wilkie were victorious in their No. 3 match-up.

All four of the Tritons' singles wins came in straight sets.

At No. 1, Scott, who is ranked 26th nationally, dispatched Laurie, 6-1 and 6-0.

Nowamooz won at No. 2, Lisa Asai won her No. 5 contest and Monica Yassear came out on top at No. 6.

The Warriors claimed wins at No. 3 and No. 4.

UCSD plays at Cal State L.A. on Saturday, April 5 (11 a.m.).
