Kevin Messey was named Head Athletic Trainer for UCSD’s 23 intercollegiate sports on Sept. 27, 2006, after spending four years as an assistant athletic trainer on the La Jolla campus.
Messey began his athletic training experience at Missouri State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training. The excellent educational and clinical program at MSU fueled his desire to pursue an even greater level of education at the Arizona School of Health Sciences. In Phoenix, ASHS provided Kevin with an exceptional education and a vast amount of experience in all entities of the Athletic Training profession. While in school he worked at a local high school and a junior college as an ATC. Messey is also an Approved Clinical Instructor for the Athletic Training Education Program at San Diego State University.
Along the way, Messey has worked with several top sports organizations, including the San Francisco 49ers, the San Francisco Giants and the Olympic Training Center.
