Tritons Shut Out Sonoma State Again

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - For the second time in a month, the UC San Diego men's tennis team shut out Sonoma State with a 9-0 blanking Sunday at SSU Courts.

UCSD went up 3-0 by sweeping the doubles matches. At. No. 1, Camill Salomon and Devon Sousa defeated Seth Hein and Jimmy Manning by a score of 8-4. In the second slot, Max Jiganti and Kona Luu downed Drexler Dy and Robert Henry, 8-3. Rajeev Herekar and Teddy Truong had no problems with Ryan Harris and Vincent Paganetti at No. 3, cruising to an 8-2 victory.

The 28th-ranked Tritons won all six singles matches in straight sets.

At No. 1, Salomon put UCSD up 4-0 by dispatching Henry without dropping a game, 6-0 and 6-0. The win was clinched when Horea Porutiu topped Nelson Hosley, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.

Salomon, the 30th-ranked singles player in the nation, is now 10-8 overall this season.

Also earning singles wins were Jiganti at No. 2, Herekar at No. 3, Ganesh Alagappan at No. 4 and Luu at No. 5. 

UCSD closes out its regular season by hosting un-ranked Point Loma Nazarene on Thursday, April 11, at 2 p.m.
