LOS ANGELES - The UC San Diego women's tennis team opened its 2013 fall season at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) West Region Championships, hosted by Cal State L.A. Thursday through Saturday.
Scott, seeded eighth in singles, defeated Lamella Belgica of Holy Names in the Round of 32 and Michelle Dandik of Academy of Art in the Round of 16, both in straight sets. She met up with top-seeded Petra Jurova out of Fresno Pacific in the quarters and fell, 6-0 and 6-2.
In the Round of 32, Chou battled for a tiebreaker victory against Cal State L.A.'s Sonia Landeros and then took down FPU's Alison Carre in straight sets in the Round of 16. However, Chou's run ended with a tight 7-5, 6-3 loss to Emily Harris of Azusa Pacific in the quarters.
Senior Tara Vanooteghem also picked up a win in singles play, defeating Holy Names' Taylor Barajas in straight sets in the Round of 64.
After receiving a bye in the first round, Chou and Scott blanked McKenzy Hardin and Analyssa Tallas, 8-0, in the Round of 16. The duo fell, 8-3, against the third-seeded team of Carre and Jurova in the quarterfinals.
The Tritons play once more during the fall, hosting Point Loma on Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.
