Director of Athletic Performance
Robert Mamula is entering his fifth year with the University of California San Diego Athletic Performance Program and his third year as the Director. Before coming to UCSD Robert served as an assistant strength coach at the Arco Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista California where he worked with track and field, synchronized swimming, skeleton, luge, downhill, and free ski team, and archery. Robert also spent time as an assistant strength coach at North Dakota State University after where he assisted track and field, women's softball, and football. Robert Graduated form North Dakota State University where he majored in Human Performance and Fitness and competed as a linebacker on the football team as well as a discus and shot put thrower on the track team.
Robert shares his athletic interest with his two older brothers, both of whom have been involved with sports. His oldest brother, Aaron, played soccer at Oregon State University and professionally for several teams, including Tahuichi, a Bolivian club team. Aaron currently works as a volunteer assistant with the UC Santa Cruz soccer team. Robert's other brother, Phil, played football at USD before becoming a Navy Seal. Phil recently retired from the navy. Robert's parents currently live together in Portland, Oregon.
Along with being an avid karaoke singer, and former cruise ship dance champion, Robert is very involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Robert Mamula hopes to help make the UCSD athletic teams dominant on a national level while providing the student athletes with the best experience of their lives.
