LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed a perfect weekend of dual meets at Canyonview Pool on Saturday.

The third-ranked Triton women, now 6-2 on the season, took down a pair of Division I opponents in CSU Bakersfield (210.5-81.5) and Loyola Marymount (181.5-105.5). The No. 5 Triton men improved to 5-2 after beating eighth-ranked Division II rival Missouri S&T (199-95) for a second straight day and CSU Bakersfield (163-137). UCSD thus completed the two-day home weekend an undefeated 4-0 on the men's side and 3-0 on the women's.

In Saturday's other match-ups, the CSUB men (5-3) topped Missouri S&T (5-4), 186-102, while the Roadrunner women (5-5) got by LMU (1-4), 151-129.

UCSD student-athletes produced the top marks in 19 of the 32 combined events.

Beth Dong, Nicholas Korth and Anji Shakya, all Triton team captains, continued their stellar performances with top times in three individual events apiece.

Dong was first in the 1000 free (10:18.93), 200 fly (2:05.13) and 200 IM (2:08.09). She led a 1-2-3 Triton sweep in the 200 fly ahead of Dari Watkins (2:07.52) and Naomi Thomas (2:09.07). Shakya was fastest in the 200 free (1:52.45), 200 back (2:06.83) and 500 free (5:04.32). Shakya and Dong also bookended the first-place 400 free relay (3:31.96) with seniors Olivia Fountain and Katherine Tse in between.

Korth dominated the breaststroke events, touching first by almost three full seconds in the 100 (56.48) and over six seconds in the 200 (2:02.62). He also won the 200 IM (1:55.53) ahead of teammates AJ Zavala (1:56.58) and John Chang (1:57.29).

In his first formal activity of the 2012-13 season, senior All-American Tyler Runsten assured himself a fourth return trip to the NCAA Division II Championships, winning the one-meter springboard event with an automatic qualifying score of 292.12. He will join junior teammate Luke Calkins there representing the Triton diving contingent. Calkins and Runsten went 1-2 on three-meter on Saturday.

Also in diving, junior Natalie Mouzooni won both the one-meter (208.35) and three-meter (211.80) competitions with season-best totals for the UCSD women ahead of freshman teammate Allyson Cohen in second.

Other Triton swimmers with top times were Sandy Hon (100 back, 58.75), Dane Stassi (200 fly, 1:52.74), Tse (100 free, 52.93) and Jaclyn Amog (100 fly, 57.78).

Paul Li, Stassi, Ethan Pham and Alex Merrill saved the best for last, teaming up to win the 400 free relay over CSU Bakersfield by a mere hundredth of a second in 3:07.08 to close out the day. Merrill barely made the lead he was given stand up.

Stassi fell short of a double in the butterfly races late in the meet, racing 51.57 to hit the wall second behind Missouri S&T's Andy Schranck (51.30) in the 100. He had led a sweep ahead of Adam Rice (1:55.65) and Ahiram Rodriguez (1:57.05) in the 200.

Amog, Fountain, Hon and Thomas were second in the 100 breast (1:08.37), 50 free (24.32, tied), 200 back (2:09.27) and 100 fly (57.90), respectively. Erika Rodman placed second behind Dong in the 1000 (10:35.44) and third in the 500 (5:14.76).

Multiple event-winners from other programs included Mitchell Huxhold (1000 free, 500 free) and Alex Daneke of CSU Bakersfield (100 back, 200 back), Camille Hopp of LMU (50 free, 200 breast) and Jacob Dole of Missouri S&T (50 free, 100 free).

UCSD has a lighter competition schedule in the week ahead, with just a single home meet on Saturday, Jan. 19. The Tritons welcome Cal Baptist and the men of Simon Fraser for a 12 p.m. start on Senior Day at the Canyonview Aquatic Center.
