ARCATA, Calif. - Powered by a double-double performance from Erin Dautremont, the UC San Diego women's basketball team won its fourth consecutive game Thursday, defeating league opponent Humboldt State, 71-63, at Lumberjack Arena.

The win moved UCSD to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). HSU, which had its modest three-game win streak snapped, fell to 3-2 on the year and 0-1 in league play.

"We had a tremendous team win tonight in a tough place to play," said UCSD head coach Heidi VanDerveer. "We showed a lot of character and I thought that our guard play was key."

Dautremont finished with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds while also throwing in a pair of steals.

Two other Tritons matched Dautremont's point total as Megan Perry and Stephanie Yano each poured in 12 as well. Perry also had six boards and five assists. Freshman Cassie MacLeod added 11 points and was 4-for-6 from the floor.

"The stability of Steph and Megan was huge," said VanDerveer. "Steph was aggressive and smart and Megan is very consistent in what she does. Both of them gave us tremendous poise.

The Lumberjacks got a game-high 24 points out of Kersey Wilcox, who made nine of her 21 shot attempts. Megan Shields posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Kelly Kime finished with 16 points and nine boards.

Both teams shot under 40 percent for the night, with HSU hitting 38.2 percent of its shots and UCSD finishing at 37.7 percent.

UCSD handled the ball well, turning it over just eight times, a season low. The Tritons scored 17 points off of 15 Humboldt State turnovers.

The Lumberjacks started strong, rolling to an 8-0 lead to open the game. However, a layup by Haley Anderson at 11:58 tied it at 15-15 and UCSD took the lead for good on a Dautremont layup at 11:42. The Tritons led 32-28 at the intermission.

UCSD never trailed for the rest of the night. Its largest lead was 11 points after McKennan Bertsch made a layup with 15:44 remaining in the game to put the Tritons up 44-33. HSU got no closer than four points after that.

"Haley and Cassie came in off the bench and gave us incredible energy and an excellent spark both offensively and defensively."

To complete its draining road trip that essentially covers the entire length of California, UCSD returns to Southern California to play at Cal Poly Pomona Saturday (5:30 p.m.).
