UC San Diego's Kellen Levy
was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association's Male Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending October 24, it was announced on Monday.
Levy, a freshman from Fresno, Calif., turned in a strong effort on Saturday, guiding the UCSD men to a victory at the Bronco Preview Meet in Whittier. The Clovis West High School graduate clocked in with a time of 25:51.9 in the men's 8k, leading a pack of six Triton runners in the top 10.
While Levy was the third individual to cross the finish line, the two runners in front of him were competing unattached, giving him first place overall in the scoring.
This marks UCSD's third athlete of the week honor of the season. Jesse Morrill won the award on September 6 after finishing first overall in the Tritons' season opener and Ryan Lok won for the week ending September 19 after leading UCSD to a win at the Aztec Invitational by placing second overall.
UC San Diego returns to action on Saturday, November 6 at the CCAA Championships at Whittier Narrows Regional Park.
