With 21 wins already in 2013, UCSD has set a new record for most victories in a single season since head coach Brad Kreutzkamp took the reins in 2009… It also marks the first 20-win season since going 24-14 in 2003… After finishing the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record, including a top-10 win over No. 9 Long Beach State, the Tritons reached a new high at No. 13 in this week’s national rankings… It marks the highest team ranking since 2006.

Friday’s game with Cal State San Bernardino marks the final regular season conference game in the WWPA. The two squads last regular season meeting came at the 2012 Bronco Invite at Santa Clara. 11 different players scored en route to UCSD setting a season high for goals in the 26-5 victory. Colette Gulick scored a game-high four goals.

UCSD plays its final regular season game Saturday at No. 8 San Diego State in the annual Harper Cup. The rivalry recognizes the influence of current UCSD Men's Coach Denny Harper on the development of both programs.

In the only match between the squads this season on Mar. 28 in Hawaii, Melissa Bartow scored a pair of goals and Leah Gonzales and Jolene Guiliana each dished out a pair of assists, but the Tritons fell short, 9-5. UCSD was 1-for-4 in 6-on-5 situations while SDSU converted three of its four man-up situations.

The Aztecs are coming off a 8-6 win over No. 20 Pacific at the Aztec Aquaplex. The week before, SDSU dropped a 8-6 decision to No. 16 UC Santa Barbara. Amber Pezolla leads SDSU with 66 goals with a .418 shot percentage.SDSU went 2-2 at the Triton Invitational Feb. 9-10, recording wins over Santa Clara and Long Beach State in overtime.

Although the Harper Cup has been decidedly one-sided with the Aztecs winning each of the 11 previous encounters in the Cup. Last year, despite the loss, Sarah Lizotte scored a game-high four goals to tie Julie Swail's 1995 regular-season record for goals scored with 84. In addition, Lizotte was named co-MVP along with SDSU's Amber Pezzolla, who scored three goals for the Aztecs' win. This marked the first time co-MVPs have been named for the Harper Cup and the first instance in which a Triton has earned the honor.
