SEASIDE, Calif. - Setter Amber Hawthorne recorded a triple-double to help lead the UC San Diego women's volleyball team to a 3-2 league win at Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday night. It was the final match of the regular season for both squads.

Scores in the back-and-forth California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) match went 26-24, 21-25, 25-13, 22-25 and 15-9. UCSD closed out its regular season at 20-10 overall and 15-7 in the league, good for a fourth place finish. CSUMB finished at 12-18 and 6-16, tied for 11th in the CCAA.

Hawthorne totaled a career-high 14 kills with 39 assists and 20 digs to complete the rare feat. The sophomore, who eclipsed 1,000 assists for the season Friday night at Cal State East Bay, also added an ace and three blocks and hit a team-high .290.

Three Tritons, all freshmen, finished with double-doubles. Danielle Dahle had a match-high 21 kills and 20 digs, Sophie Rowe totaled 12 kills and 22 digs and Heidi Sierks had 14 assists and 10 digs.

Junior libero Brittany Lombardi set a UCSD single match record with a career-high 42 digs. The previous mark was 40, established by Natalie Facchini against Cal State San Bernardino in 2004.

Julia Ashen had 16 kills and Jessica Malcolm added 11 for the Otters. Five players bagged double-digit dig totals, led by Rachel Cookus' 32.

Neither team boasted a potent attack as UC San Diego hit .131 (65-34-236) and Cal State Monterey Bay managed just an .079 (45-27-228) hitting percentage. UCSD was at its best in the fifth and final set as it swung at .355 with 12 kills and only one error in 31 attacks.

The Tritons collected a season-high 136 digs while the Otters won the battle at the net, out-blocking their opponent 9-5.

UCSD finds out Sunday if it receives an at-large berth in the upcoming NCAA West Regional. Cal State San Bernardino (CCAA), BYU-Hawaii (PacWest) and Western Washington (GNAC) have already gained automatic entry by virtue of winning their respective conference regular season titles. The remaining five spots will be filled according to the NCAA's regional rankings. The Tritons were fifth in the West in the most recent rankings, which were released on Nov. 14.

The NCAA selections will be announced at 7 p.m. (PT) and the show will be broadcast online here
