The Tritons drop to 19-10 overall and 17-5 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play to end the regular season in second place. UCSD will host a CCAA Tournament first round game against No. 7 seed Cal State San Bernardino (13-13, 11-11 CCAA) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Feder finished with a double-double, which included 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Tritons. Osga, in addition to her 17 points, had five rebounds, two blocks and four steals.
Sophomore forward Farrah Shokoor led the Gators with a game-high 18 points and had seven rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal, while junior forward Lauren Varney contributed 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.
UCSD finished the game with a subpar 19-for-55 (34.5%) performance from the field, including a dismal 7-for-28 (25%) showing in the second half. In contrast, the Gators went only 8-for-27 (29.6%) in the first half and surged to a 12-for-22 (54.5%) effort in the second half to finish the night with a 20-for-49 (40.8%) performance.
With a six-point, 31-25 lead at the half, UCSD later led by as many as seven on three occasions. The last of those occurred when Feder sank both of her free throws with 7:41 left to give the Tritons a 48-41 lead. However, Feder's free throws proved to be the last Triton points for nearly seven minutes, during which time the Gators went on an 11-0 run.
Shokoor scored the last six points of the run, all on layups, tying the game, 48-48, with 4:04 remaining in regulation. She gave the lead back to SFSU, 50-48, at the 3:24 mark and capped the run with 1:55 to go to double the Gators' advantage to four, 52-48, their largest of the game.
The first half was a wild one in which no lead was secure with seven lead changes in all, including four in less than a minute.
A pair of free throws from Shokoor tied the game at 15-15 with 8:08 left in the half. But Feder scored five straight points on a layup and a three-pointer to retain a 20-15 advantage for the Tritons at the 6:04 mark.
UCSD led by as many as seven in the first half, 28-21, when Osga nailed a jumper with 2:37 remaining in the opening frame. The Tritons arrived at the intermission with a 31-25 lead.
The Gators, who improve to 12-14 overall and 9-13 in CCAA competition, clinched the eighth seed in the CCAA Tournament. SFSU will travel to Acker Gym for the first round of the CCAA Tournament to face 15th-ranked Chico State (21-4, 17-4 CCAA), the No. 1 seed, on Tuesday in a game slated for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
