SEASIDE, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's golf team wrapped up its fall season Tuesday with a seventh place finish out of 17 teams at the Otter Classic, hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay at Bayonet Golf Course.

UCSD, which sat in fifth place after Monday's play, shot a combined 910 (301-307-302) over three rounds on the par-72, 6,887-yard course. Lewis Simon was the Tritons' top finisher, firing a 71-76-76 for a 7-over par 223, good for a tie for 12th.

The host Otters held on to the lead they owned after play Monday to win the tournament, collecting a 10-over 874 (285-307-282). Nova Southeastern placed second (299-290-289--878), while Western Washington took third overall (299-302-296--897).

The individual crown went to Ben Taylor of Nova Southeastern, who carded a 4-under 212, shooting 71-71-70 over the two days. Cal State East Bay's Chris Herzog was second with a 1-under 215 (73-72-70) and Nova Southeastern's Oscar Lengden (75-72-69) and Monterey Bay's Jered Stone (78-71-67) tied for third with an even-par 216.

A pair of Triton freshmen tied for 34th place as Daniel Yang (75-74-80) and Clayton Yamaguchi (80-79-70) each finished with a 13-over 229. Yamaguchi's 2-under 70 in the third round proved to be the low round of the tourney for UCSD.

Also competing for the Tritons were Jay Lim, who tied for 40th (75-79-78--232), and Jacob Williams, who tied for 55th (80-78-78--236).

The Bayonet course played to an average of 77.42 strokes during the tournament.

UCSD next competes on the links at the Cal State San Marcos Invitational on Feb. 4 and Feb. 5.
