Arsht, out of Oak Park, and Cohen, a goalkeeper from Sunnyvale, anchored a defense that ranks No. 2 in the nation in Division II in goals-against average (0.44) and first in shutout percentage (0.71). The Tritons posted 12 shutouts among their 17 games, and set the new California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) single-season record for goals-against average.
Cohen, the 2012 CCAA Most Valuable Defensive Player and a second-team All-CCAA honoree, is still the national leader in individual goals-against average (0.397) and save percentage (.898). He posted seven shutouts while making 44 saves, allowing just five goals in 13 matches (1134:23 minutes).
Arsht, an All-CCAA First Team pick, started 14 of 16 matches at center back. This is a second straight Daktronics All-West Region honor for Arsht, who was chosen to the second team in 2011.
The Triton teammates were among 13 first-team selections, with 13 more included on the second team. Grand Canyon senior forward Saeed Robinson earned Daktronics West Region Player of the Year distinction thanks to 42 points from 18 goals and six assists on the year.
UCSD completed the 2012 season at 9-4-4 overall, posting a third straight winning campaign in first-time CCAA Coach of the Year Jon Pascale's fifth season at the helm.
