OPENING STATEMENT
UCSD opened its 2013-14 campaign with a 70-65 victory at league opponent Cal State San Bernardino on Nov. 17. It was the first time that the Tritons had ever kicked off a season with a CCAA game. Guard Miranda Seto set a new career-high by scoring 21 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the floor (one three-pointer) and a 4-for-5 performance from the free throw line. She also dished out a game-high five assists. Megan Perry equaled a career-best with 13 points, Erin Dautremont added 10 points and Taylor Hirz pulled down a team-high six rebounds for the Tritons, who made 53.3% (24-for-45) of their shots in the game. UC San Diego led 30-25 at halftime and both squads put up 40 points in the second stanza. The Coyotes led by as many as four in the second half, but a layup by Seto with 6:57 remaining put UCSD up 47-45 and the Tritons held a lead the rest of the way. UC San Diego's largest advantage in the game was seven, occurring for the final time at 67-60 when Perry drilled a three-pointer with just 31 seconds left.

The Tritons need to replace their top two scorers as guards Daisy Feder and Emily Osga were lost to graduation. Feder, the CCAA's Most Valuable Player and an All-West Region First Team selection, put down 18.3 points per game last season, the third-best average in the conference. She led the league in three-point field goals (2.7/game) and free-throw percentage (.850). Osga averaged 12.4 points per game and led the CCAA in three-point field goal percentage (.461).
