LET ME IN
UCSD students and children under seven are admitted free to all regular season home games. Tickets for all games at RIMAC Arena are available at the main entrance on game day. General admission prices are $10 for adults (ages seven and up) and $5 for seniors (ages 65 and up), visiting students and UCSD Alumni Association members. AIR BALL
For the third consecutive season, a majority of UCSD's men's basketball games will be broadcast by ESPN Radio 1700 AM. A total of 17 non-conference and California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) games will be on air, including all home league games and select road conference games. Craig Elsten, in his fifth season as the voice of Triton men's and women's basketball during online broadcasts, serves as the play-by-play announcer. Color commentary will be handled by former Triton players. A full list of games being aired can be found by clicking here.

GOING LIVE
All UCSD home games will feature a free live video stream that will be coupled with the audio from the ESPN Radio 1700 AM broadcast. You can access the video/audio feed by clicking here. In addition, all home games will be covered by live stats, which can be viewed by clicking here.

COACH AND COACH
First-year UCSD head coach Eric Olen will be a weekly guest on The Mighty 1090's "Coach" Kentera Show all season long. Typically, Olen will join host John Kentera live on Thursday nights at 8:30 p.m. Due to special programming this week, Olen will not be on the Jan. 9 show.

TOWELS AND TAILGATES
The first 1,500 students in attendance Friday will get a free Triton rally towel, courtesy of Triton Tide and Greek Life. In addition, Smart & Final is sponsoring a student tailgate with free food between the women's and men's games. On Saturday, all fans at RIMAC Arena will receive a schedule poster.

WE'VE GOT SPIRIT
Don't miss it! Annually the biggest event of the basketball season at RIMAC Arena, the 2014 edition of Spirit Night will take place on Friday, Jan. 24, starting at 5:30 p.m. For a photo gallery from last year's Spirit Night, click here.

NATIONAL PRIDE
UCSD ranks among the top 50 teams in the nation in scoring defense (23rd, 65.6), field goal percentage defense (42nd, 40.3), fewest turnovers (43rd, 124) and three-pointers/game (47th, 8.6).

Individually, James McCann ranks 21st in assists/game (5.8), 30th in assist/turnover ratio (3.05) and 54th in total assists (58).

HELPING HANDS
James McCann is closing in on UCSD's Division II (since the 2000-01 season) career assists record. Heading into this week's games, the senior guard has accumulated 366 career helpers, which ranks second on the school's list. The DII record is held by Clint Allard, who dished out 414 assists between 2004 and 2008. The all-time school record is 496 by Darvin Jackson (1988-92).

McMORE ON McCANN
Earlier this season, James McCann scored his 1,000th career point. He entered the year with 934 and his 11-point performance at Humboldt State on Dec. 5 put him over the mark. He is just the third Triton to accumulate 1,000 points during the team's NCAA Division II era (since the 2000-01 season). Overall, he is the 12th UCSD player in program history to join the club.

TRITON NOTES
James McCann went 10-for-14 from the free throw line last week against Cal State Stanislaus, both career-highs ... McCann has scored at least 10 points in nine of 10 games this season ... Drew Dyer has made at least one three-pointer in nine of 10 games ... MacKenzie McCullough totaled a career-high 20 points against UC Merced ... Zach McMillan's 16 rebounds against UC Merced were a career-best and the most since Casey Ryan pulled down 20 against San Francisco State on Feb. 3, 2011 ... Head coach Eric Olen earned his first career win on Nov. 15 with a 66-56 victory against Daemen College at RIMAC Arena … Olen's inaugural win came in his first career regular season contest ... The Tritons’ 95 points against St. Katherine on Nov. 27 were the most the team had scored in regulation since Nov. 4, 2011, when it poured in 102 against Chestnut Hill ... UCSD has scored 90-plus points twice for the first time since the 2007-08 season ... Duke Doulphus, Kevin Harris, Adam Klie, Aleks Lipovic, Michael Robinson and Darryl Wong have all seen their first career action as a Triton this season.

WEEKLY REWIND
The Tritons lost both of their CCAA games last week at home, the first time they had dropped back-to-back games at RIMAC Arena this season. In a 70-64 setback against Cal State Stanislaus, James McCann had 19 points and five assists, but UCSD shot 39% and was out-rebounded 39-30. The Warriors made eight of their 16 three-point shots. The next night, McCann again led UCSD in scoring with 15 points, but the Tritons suffered a 73-50 loss to No. 21 Chico State. UCSD made just 35% of its shots while CSUC countered at 51%. The Wildcats drained 10 shots from behind the arc, while the Tritons were 4-for-21 from long range.

DYER DAZZLES
Drew Dyer was named the CCAA Player of the Week on Nov. 25. The 6'6" forward recorded his first double-double of the season in a near victory over league favorite Cal State San Bernardino on Nov. 21. The Tritons fell in overtime, 77-73, despite 22 points and a career-high 14 rebounds from the sophomore. The Aurora, Colo., native was 7-for-16 from the floor, including a pair of treys, and capitalized on six-of-seven free throw opportunities. His 22 points and 14 rebounds, eight on the offensive side, were game-highs. It marked the first career conference award for Dyer.

HEAD COACH ERIC OLEN
Long-time UCSD assistant coach Eric Olen was named the program's 12th head coach on Oct. 1, 2013. Olen joined the Tritons as a second assistant for the 2004-05 season and was promoted to first assistant the next season. He was on the bench during the 2007-08 campaign when UCSD won its first-ever CCAA Tournament title and earned its first berth in the NCAA Tournament. As a player at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala., Olen helped the Badgers to three straight appearances in the NAIA National Tournament, including trips to the NAIA Elite Eight in 2000 and 2001.

ABOUT THE PIONEERS
Cal State East Bay enters Friday's game with a 6-6 overall record and sits in a tie for sixth in the CCAA at 3-3. The Pioneers split their home games last weekend, losing against Cal Poly Pomona (66-52) before defeating Humboldt State (89-81). The Pioneers are the third-highest scoring team in the CCAA at 78.2 points per game. They lead the conference in three-point shooting (.383) and rank second in free throw percentage (.726). Gabe Kindred ranks fourth in the conference in scoring at 19.2 points per game and has notched double figures in all 12 contests. He leads the CCAA in steals (20) and free throws made (85) and ranks third in three-point shooting (.471).

ABOUT THE SERIES
UCSD holds a slight 6-5 advantage in the all-time series against Cal State East Bay. The two teams split the 2012-13 series, with the Tritons winning in Hayward (69-60) and the Pioneers coming out on top in La Jolla (72-49).

ABOUT THE OTTERS
Cal State Monterey Bay, which plays at No. 14 Cal State San Bernardino Friday, entered the week at 4-5 overall and tied for eighth in the CCAA at 2-4. The Otters split a pair of home league games last week, downing Humboldt State (76-69) before losing against Cal Poly Pomona (60-40). CSUMB has lost five of its last seven games. Ryan Nitz is averaging a team-high 18.0 points/game, while Alex Fertig is scoring 14.3/game. Kris Gallop is the team's top rebounder, pulling down 6.4 a contest. The Otters are third in the CCAA in steals, averaging 7.8/game.

ABOUT THE SERIES
The all-time series between the two squads is tight, with UCSD holding a 10-9 edge. Last season, the Tritons swept the series by scores of 63-58 in Seaside and 82-67 at RIMAC Arena. UCSD has won the last four match-ups.

CCAA TOURNAMENT RETURNS TO ONTARIO
The 2014 CCAA Championship Tournament returns to Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., March 6-8. This year, the tournament will feature a new format that includes 12 teams (six men's teams and six women's teams) instead of the previous 16-team field. All tournament games will be played at Citizens Business Bank Arena, with the first round campus site games eliminated. The top two men's teams and top two women's teams will receive a first-round bye, while the No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 seeds on each side will play a first round elimination game on Thursday, March 6. Semifinal games between the first-round winners and the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will take place on Friday, March 7, and the championship games will be played on Saturday, March 8. The men's and women's teams that win the CCAA Tournament will receive automatic qualification into the 2014 NCAA Division II Championship Tournament.
