LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego women's tennis team captured its fourth win Saturday, defeating Sonoma State, 7-2, at the Northview Tennis Courts. The Tritons won all three doubles matches, improving their record to 4-5.

Tritons Melissa Breisacher and Jacquelyn Davis set the tone at No. 1 doubles, beating opponents Megan White and Krista Cole, 8-4. Melinda Chu and Tara Vanooteghem followed suit at No. 2, winning by the same margin. At No. 3 doubles Katie Mulloy and Melody Wu defeated Lauren Ha and Sheena Johnson, 8-3.

UCSD was victorious in four of six singles matches as well. Breisacher got her second win of the day against Sonoma's Megan White at the No. 1 position, 7-5, 6-3. Farther down on the singles ladder, Tritons Katie Mulloy, Tara Vanooteghem and Krystal Mizuguchi were also successful, all beating their opponents in two commanding sets.

"We got our first win of the season at No. 1 doubles, which will hopefully give them confidence," UCSD head coach Liz LaPlante said. "We have a tough week of matches coming up."

The Tritons will next face Western New Mexico at home on Mar. 7.
