LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's and women's tennis teams were named All-Academic by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), while 10 Tritons earned Scholar-Athlete recognition for their strong performances in the classroom during the 2012 season.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, a program must boast at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. In order to attain ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the academic year.

On the men's side, the Tritons were one of 22 NCAA Division II teams across the nation named to the list. Five players were tabbed ITA Scholar-Athletes, including juniors Austin West and Junya Yoshida and sophomores Maxence Dutreix, Max Jiganti and Devon Sousa.

The Triton women joined 52 other Division II squads as an ITA All-Academic Team. Senior Samantha Yeung, junior Jacquelyn Davis, sophomore Zoe Sophos and freshmen Kellie Taylor and Melody Wu were named Scholar-Athletes.

Both UCSD teams were nationally-ranked in 2012 with the men finishing 22nd and the women 29th.
