LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego women's volleyball player Danielle Dahle was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) West Region Freshman of the Year and was among four Tritons that earned AVCA and California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) accolades for their performances over the 2012 season.

Dahle and Sara McCutchan were AVCA All-West Region honorable mention picks. In addition, Dahle was named First Team All-CCAA, while McCutchan, Amber Hawthorne and Sophie Rowe were selected to the league's second team.

Dahle, one of just three freshmen on the 13-member All-CCAA First Team, has been a powerhouse for UCSD this season. The outside hitter leads the team in kills (409) and points (466.0) and is second in service aces (25) and digs (324). Among CCAA players, Dahle ranks third in total kills, kills per set (3.68), total points and points per set (4.20). Her 409 kills are fifth on UCSD's single season list. The La Mesa native has recorded 13 double-doubles in 2012. She has totaled 10 or more kills in 22 of 30 matches played and 10-plus digs in 17 matches. Dahle posted team season-highs with 26 kills and 31.0 points in a win over No. 18 Western Washington in early September. She was named the CCAA Player of the Week on Oct. 1 and tabbed a San Diego Hall of Champions Star of the Month for October.

A sophomore setter, Hawthorne leads the Tritons in assists (1,050) and aces (26), is second in attack percentage (.286) and blocks (57) and third in digs (290). Her assist total ranks fourth among all CCAA players. She recently posted the team's only triple-double of season with 14 kills, 39 assists and 20 digs at Cal State Monterey Bay and has recorded 13 double-doubles on the year. The Granada Hills native has amassed 30 or more assists 19 times and 40 or more in eight matches, which included a career-high 58 against Western Washington. Her 1,577 career assists rank sixth in program history.

McCutchan currently leads UCSD in attack percentage (.307) and blocks (114). The sophomore middle blocker ranks second on the roster in kills (292) and points (370.0) and is fourth in the conference in total blocks and blocks per set (1.03). In addition, the Irvine native is sixth in the CCAA in attack percentage and 12th in total points. Sixteen times she has recorded a hitting percentage over .300. McCutchan's 114 blocks rank ninth on UCSD's single season list.

Another freshman outside hitter, Rowe is third on the team in kills (227), aces (19) and points (269.5) and fourth in digs (237) despite missing 11 matches due to injury. The Trabuco Canyon native is averaging .27 aces per set, which is tops on the squad, and her kill (3.20), dig (3.34) and point (3.80) averages all rank second on the team. In the CCAA, Rowe is ninth in kills per set and points per set. She has recorded six double-doubles with 10-plus kills in 10 of 19 matches and 10 or more digs in 10 matches.

League champion Cal State San Bernardino had five players named all-conference, while San Francisco State and Sonoma State joined UCSD with four picks each. SFSU won two major awards as setter Iris Tolenada was selected as the league's Most Valuable Player and middle blocker Meagan Wright was named Freshman of the Year. Opposite hitter Suzy Ni Xu of Cal State East Bay picked up Newcomer of the Year honors and Jennifer Adeva of Cal State Dominguez Hills was tabbed the Coach of the Year.

Finishing at 20-10 overall and 15-7 in the CCAA (fourth place), UCSD earned a trip to the NCAA postseason for the seventh consecutive season. The eighth-seeded Tritons will take on top seed BYU-Hawaii in an NCAA West Regional quarterfinal on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 9:30 p.m. (Pacific Time).
