LA JOLLA, Calif. - Four UC San Diego women's volleyball players have been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as its annual all-region selections were announced Wednesday.

She majors in cognitive science at Marshall College.

A junior middle blocker, McCutchan leads UCSD, ranks fourth in the CCAA and is 33rd in the country in hitting percentage. She is second on the team in points and third in kills, blocks, blocks/set and points/set. McCutchan broke league and school records and tied the NCAA Division II record with a 1.000 (11-0-11) hitting percentage against Humboldt State (11/8). She has totaled 10 or more points in 23 of 30 matches. This season, McCutchan has been selected as a CCAA Player of the Week (11/12), the MVP of the UCSD Invitational and a member of the Coyote Classic All-Tournament Team. In 2012, she earned Daktronics All-West Second Team, AVCA All-West Honorable Mention, All-CCAA Second Team and CCAA All-Academic honors. The Irvine native is a cognitive science major at Roosevelt College.

In CCAA matches, Sierks, a sophomore setter, ranks first in assists and assists/set. Sierks established a career-high with 70 assists at Cal State Monterey Bay (11/15) and her 1,180 assists is seventh on UCSD's single season list. The Lake Bluff, Ill., native is undeclared at Marshall College.

Brenton is in her first season at UCSD after transferring from Columbia University. The junior opposite hitter is second on the team in kills/set, hitting percentage, aces, blocks, blocks/set and points/set. Among CCAA players, Brenton is fourth in blocks/set and seventh in blocks. She has totaled 10 or more points in 21 of 26 matches and 15 or more points 11 times. The San Jose native has recorded a double-double in four of her last six matches. Brenton's 33.0 points and 27 kills against Cal Poly Pomona (11/9) are team season-highs. She is an economics major at Revelle College.

Last week, all four Tritons were named to All-CCAA teams. Brenton, Dahle and Sierks made the first team, while McCutchan was selected to the league's second team.

Chico State setter Torey Thompson was tabbed the AVCA West Region Freshman of the Year, while Cal State San Bernardino's Kim Cherniss was named the AVCA West Region Coach of the Year. Cherniss, along with Sonoma State's Bear Grassl, garnered CCAA Co-Coach of the Year accolades last week.

UCSD (25-5), ranked 12th nationally, earned a berth in the NCAA postseason for the eighth consecutive year. As the third seed in the West, the Tritons will take on sixth-seeded Dixie State (17-9) in the first round of the NCAA Division II West Regional on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 12 p.m. The regional is being hosted by top-seeded Cal State San Bernardino, Dec. 5-7 at The Den.
