LA JOLLA, Calif. - After consecutive home sweeps of Humboldt State and Sonoma State last weekend, the 11th-ranked UC San Diego women's volleyball team will look to keep rolling during a busy week of CCAA play.

Head coach Ricci Luyties' squad will play three times in four days this week, beginning with a home matchup against unbeaten and 24th-ranked Cal State East Bay Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. The Tritons will then hit the road for the first time in conference play, taking on Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday before clashing with San Francisco State on Saturday.

UCSD begins the week with a 5-1 overall record and a 2-0 CCAA mark after turning back the Lumberjacks and Seawolves to open league play. The Tritons hit .232 in two matches last week, while holding their opponents to just a .186 clip. UCSD also tallied a total of 11 service aces, while HSU and SSU managed just three.

Senior middle blocker Kaitlin Potter was excellent against Humboldt and Sonoma, averaging a team-high 3.40 kills per set. Junior outside Roxanne Brunsting sent down 2.50 kills to go with 4.17 digs per set, while Hillary Williamson averaged 2.50 kills and a team-high 4.67 digs. Junior setter Thalia McCann racked up a total of 65 assists over the weekend.

Winners of three straight, the Tritons will face Cal State East Bay on Wednesday, looking to hand the Pioneers their first loss of the season. East Bay enters this week's matchup with a perfect overall record at 7-0 and a 2-0 league mark following victories over Humboldt and Sonoma last week. The Pioneers defeated both squads in four sets.

Freshman outside hitter Katie Allen leads CSUEB averaging 3.52 kills per set on .218 hitting. She is also averaging 2.22 digs per set. Junior outside Sukhjit Athwal comes in averaging 2.74 kills at a .169 clip, while senior Cara Crowder averages 2.50 kills on .293 hitting. As a team, the Pioneers hit at a .237 clip, while holding the opposition to just .146. CSUEB has also out-blocked its opponents 28-20.

UCSD leads the all-time series with Cal State East Bay 8-1, winning 26 out of 30 games. The Tritons defeated the Pioneers twice in 2009, recording a road sweep on September 9, before taking the rematch on November 4 in three sets, as well.

Following Wednesday's matchup, UCSD will head north to face Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State. The Otters begin play this week with an overall record of 4-1 and a 1-1 mark in CCAA play after splitting two matches with Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona over the weekend. The Gators' record stands at 3-4 overall and 0-2 in league action after road losses to the Coyotes and Broncos.

UCSD is 12-0 all-time against Cal State Monterey Bay and holds a commanding 16-1 series edge over San Francisco State. The Tritons won both matchups with the Otters a year ago and went 1-1 against the Gators, falling to SFSU (3-1) for the first time in program history on November 6.

At 2-0, UCSD and Cal State East Bay are currently in a four-way tie for first place in the CCAA standings along with Cal State L.A. and Cal State San Bernardino. The Golden Eagles and Coyotes are 5-1 overall, as well.
