ARCATA, Calif. - A 44 to 28 advantage in kills led the 12th-ranked UC San Diego women's volleyball team to a sweep over Humboldt State in league action Friday night at Lumberjack Arena in Northern California.
Scores were 25-19, 25-20 and 20-18 as the Tritons improved to 10-1 overall and 6-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The Jacks fell to 5-8 and 2-7.
For the sixth time this season, UCSD held its opponent under a .100 attack percentage as Humboldt hit just .065 (28-21-108) for the match. The Tritons swung at .250 with 44 kills and 15 errors in 116 attempts.
Senior outside hitter Katie Condon led all players with 12 kills. Hillary Williamson, also a senior outside, had 10 kills, two aces, nine digs and a block assist, while senior setter Roxanne Brunsting recorded her eight double-double of the season with 16 assists and a match-best 15 digs.
The UCSD middles had a solid night. Junior Julia Freidenberg totaled nine kills, hit .438 and added a block and freshman Lauren Demos had seven kills, a .385 attack percentage and three total blocks.
Oceana Matsubu had a double-double for the Jacks with 11 kills and 12 digs, but hit just .091 overall.
UCSD plays at Sonoma State Saturday at 7 p.m. The Seawolves were swept by No. 3 Cal State San Bernardino Friday.
