SEVENTH HEAVEN
UCSD is heading into postseason play for the seventh consecutive season. Since moving to NCAA Division II status in 2000, the Tritons have missed qualifying for regionals just once (2005). The team's best D-II finish came in 2001, when it advanced to the national semifinals. At last season's West Regional in San Bernardino, UCSD swept Grand Canyon before bowing out to Sonoma State, 3-1, in the semis. The Tritons are 13-11 in NCAA D-II postseason matches.

HAVE WE MET?
UCSD has played against six of the other seven West Regional teams this season. The Tritons have seen Cal State San Bernardino (L 2-3, W 3-2), San Francisco State (L 0-3, L 0-3) and Sonoma State (W 3-2, L 1-3) twice each in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. They met Grand Canyon (L 1-3) early in the season at the Antelopes' tournament, then played both Central Washington (L 1-3) and Western Washington (W 3-2) a week later at Sonoma's Seawolf Spike tourney. UCSD holds a 3-6 record this year against the West Regional field. Thursday's match with BYU-Hawaii will be the first time the two squads have met since 2008. The Tritons and Seasiders have never played each other in the postseason.
